Ramayana Episode 2 – The Marriage of Sita

Rama lifts and breaks the sacred bow, winning Sita’s hand in marriage.

As Rama grew older his name began to be known across many kingdoms. People spoke about his courage and his character. Around that time an important event was being prepared in the kingdom of Mithila. The event was connected to the marriage of Princess Sita.

The Test of the Bow

King Janaka of Mithila prepared a special test. He decided to choose the man who would marry Sita through a test of the bow. The bow was known as a great weapon that had come from the gods. Only the one who could lift it and draw its string would be able to marry Sita.

Many princes and warriors came forward to attempt the test. Yet none of them were able to even move the bow. The bow was too heavy and powerful a weapon. People began to feel that the test was almost impossible.

Rama and Sita

Rama and his brothers heard about the event and came to Mithila. King Janaka welcomed them to his palace. Rama watched the test quietly before finally stepping forward toward the bow. He calmly lifted the bow and drew its string.

At that moment the bow broke with a great sound. Everyone inside the palace was astonished. King Janaka saw the moment and was deeply impressed. He declared that Rama would become the husband of Sita.

The Marriage of the Prince

The wedding of Rama and Sita was prepared with great ceremony in Mithila. Kings and nobles gathered to celebrate the marriage. The wedding became an event that symbolized the union of two kingdoms. People watched the union of Rama and Sita with joy.

Rama’s brothers were also married during the celebration. The wedding created new bonds between the two royal families. The city of Mithila remained filled with music and celebration for many days afterward. In this way the story of Rama and Sita moved into a new stage.

왕자의 결혼

라마와 시타의 결혼식은 미틸라에서 성대하게 준비됩니다. 왕들과 귀족들이 이 결혼을 축하하기 위해 모입니다. 결혼식은 두 왕국의 중요한 연합을 상징하는 행사였습니다. 사람들은 라마와 시타의 결합을 기쁜 마음으로 바라봅니다.

라마의 형제들도 함께 결혼을 하게 됩니다. 이 결혼식은 두 왕가 사이의 새로운 관계를 만들어 줍니다. 축제와 음악 속에서 미틸라의 도시는 오랜 시간 기쁨에 잠깁니다. 이렇게 라마와 시타의 이야기는 새로운 단계로 나아가게 됩니다.
