Ramayana Episode 8 – The War between Rama and Ravana
After crossing the sea and reaching Lanka, Rama and his allies finally enter the great war against Ravana to rescue Sita.
As Rama’s army arrives in Lanka after crossing the bridge over the sea, the long-awaited war finally begins. The search for Sita and the journey through forests, mountains, and distant lands now lead directly toward open conflict. Ravana prepares his kingdom for battle while Rama and his allies stand before the walls of Lanka ready for war. The struggle that began with exile and separation has now grown into a battle between entire armies.
The War in Lanka
The fighting begins fiercely around the walls and gates of Lanka. Monkey warriors clash with Ravana’s soldiers across the battlefield while weapons, fire, and noise spread throughout the city. The peaceful forests that once surrounded Rama’s exile are now far behind him as the story enters its most violent stage.
Hanuman and the monkey warriors fight with courage and determination as they advance against the forces of Lanka. The battlefield becomes filled with confusion as warriors move through smoke, collapsing walls, and endless combat. Both armies continue struggling for control while the war spreads across the kingdom.
At the center of the conflict stand Rama and Lakshmana. Together they face many powerful warriors who serve Ravana and defend Lanka with loyalty and strength. The battle continues for many days, and both sides suffer heavy losses as the fighting grows more destructive.
As the war continues, Lanka itself begins to change under the weight of the conflict. The great kingdom that once appeared distant and untouchable slowly becomes a place consumed by destruction and exhaustion. The struggle moves steadily toward the final confrontation between Rama and Ravana.
The Defeat of Ravana
At last the war reaches its decisive moment when Rama and Ravana face one another directly. Their duel becomes the center of the entire battlefield as both armies watch the struggle between the two leaders. Ravana appears with the power and pride of a king who believes that no enemy can defeat him.
The battle between them continues through a long and difficult struggle. Ravana fights with enormous strength and refuses to surrender despite the losses surrounding him. Yet Rama remains calm and focused while continuing to advance against his enemy.
Gradually the balance of the battle begins to change. Ravana’s power and confidence can no longer overcome Rama’s determination and discipline. After a final struggle, Ravana is at last defeated upon the battlefield before Lanka.
With Ravana’s fall, the war begins moving toward its end. His army can no longer continue fighting, and the noise of battle slowly fades across the ruined city. After the long journey and terrible conflict, Rama and his allies finally achieve victory.
The Rescue of Sita
After the war ends, Rama goes to the place where Sita has been held during her captivity in Lanka. The two meet again after a long separation marked by fear, loss, and suffering. For Sita, the moment comes only after enduring hardship and uncertainty throughout the long conflict.
Yet the reunion does not bring simple peace or relief. Rama now speaks not only as a husband but also as a future king who must consider how others will judge what has happened. Because Sita remained in Lanka under Ravana’s control, Rama questions whether her purity can still be trusted.
The moment creates a painful distance between them even after the war has ended. Instead of responding with anger alone, Sita makes a decision meant to prove her truth before everyone present. She steps into the fire and declares that the flames themselves will judge her honesty and purity.
The fire does not harm Sita, and she emerges unharmed before the gathered people. Through this moment the story reveals that the end of war does not erase tension, doubt, or suffering. Even at the moment of reunion, duty, trust, and public judgment continue to stand in conflict within the lives of Rama and Sita.

전투 중심에는 라마와 락슈마나가 서 있습니다. 두 사람은 라바나를 위해 싸우는 강력한 전사들과 맞서며 전장을 지나갑니다. 전쟁은 여러 날 동안 이어지고, 양쪽 모두 큰 피해를 입게 됩니다. 시간이 흐를수록 전투는 더욱 거칠고 파괴적인 모습으로 변해 갑니다.
계속되는 싸움 속에서 랑카 역시 점점 무너져 가기 시작합니다. 한때 강력하고 쉽게 접근할 수 없었던 왕국은 전쟁의 무게 아래에서 지쳐 가는 공간으로 바뀌어 갑니다. 모든 싸움은 결국 라마와 라바나의 마지막 대결로 향하게 됩니다.
라바나의 패배
마침내 전쟁은 라마와 라바나가 직접 서로 마주하는 순간에 도달합니다. 두 사람의 결투는 전장 전체의 중심이 되었고, 양쪽 군대는 그 싸움을 지켜보게 됩니다. 라바나는 어떤 적도 자신을 무너뜨릴 수 없다고 믿는 왕의 자존심과 힘을 드러내며 싸움에 나섭니다.
두 사람의 전투는 길고 치열하게 이어집니다. 라바나는 엄청난 힘으로 맞서며 마지막 순간까지 물러서지 않으려 합니다. 그러나 라마는 흔들리지 않은 채 침착함과 집중력을 유지하며 계속 앞으로 나아갑니다.
시간이 흐르면서 전장의 균형은 조금씩 바뀌기 시작합니다. 라바나의 힘과 자신감은 더 이상 라마의 결의와 절제를 이겨 내지 못하게 됩니다. 결국 마지막 충돌 끝에 라바나는 랑카의 전장에서 패배하게 됩니다.
라바나가 쓰러지면서 전쟁은 끝을 향해 움직이기 시작합니다. 그의 군대는 더 이상 싸움을 이어 갈 수 없었고, 전장을 가득 채우던 소리는 조금씩 사라져 갑니다. 긴 여정과 거대한 전쟁 끝에 라마와 동료들은 마침내 승리를 얻게 됩니다.
시타의 구출
전쟁이 끝난 뒤 라마는 시타가 붙잡혀 있던 곳으로 향하게 됩니다. 두 사람은 오랜 분리와 고통 끝에 다시 만나게 됩니다. 시타는 긴 시간 동안 불안과 고난 속에서 살아남아야 했고, 재회는 전쟁이 끝났음을 보여 주는 순간처럼 보였습니다.
그러나 그 만남은 단순한 안도와 평화로 이어지지 않았습니다. 라마는 이제 남편이면서 동시에 미래의 왕으로서 사람들의 시선을 의식하게 됩니다. 그는 시타가 오랫동안 랑카에 머물렀다는 사실을 두고 그녀의 순결을 의심하는 말을 하게 됩니다.
그 순간 두 사람 사이에는 깊은 거리감이 드러나게 됩니다. 시타는 단순한 분노로 대답하지 않았습니다. 대신 자신의 진실을 증명하겠다는 결심을 내립니다. 그녀는 불 속으로 들어가며 자신의 결백과 순수함을 증명하겠다고 선언합니다.
그러나 불길은 시타를 해치지 못했고, 그녀는 상처 없이 다시 모습을 드러냅니다. 이 장면은 전쟁이 끝난 뒤에도 고통과 의심, 긴장이 완전히 사라지지 않는다는 사실을 보여 줍니다. 재회의 순간조차 의무와 신뢰, 그리고 사람들의 판단은 서로 충돌하고 있었습니다.
