Epic of Gilgamesh, Episode 2 – The Meeting of Gilgamesh and Enkidu

Gilgamesh and Enkidu meet, fight, and become friends, forming a bond that changes the story.

The king of Uruk, Gilgamesh, was known as a king of great strength. Yet his strength also became a source of fear for the people. The people finally turned to the gods and asked for help. The gods decided to create a being who could challenge Gilgamesh.

The Meeting of Gilgamesh and Enkidu

The name of the being created by the gods was Enkidu. He was not born in a city but in the wild. In the fields and forests he lived among the animals. He lived freely without knowing the rules of human society.

Yet his existence soon began to connect with the human world. One day a hunter discovered Enkidu in the fields. The hunter brought this story back to Uruk. In this way the meeting between Gilgamesh and Enkidu slowly drew near.

The Battle between Gilgamesh and Enkidu

At last Enkidu came to the city of Uruk. In the center of the city he faced Gilgamesh. The two heroes stood against each other as if to test their strength. Their meeting soon turned into a fierce fight.

The two heroes struggled against each other in the streets of the city. The people watched the scene in amazement. Their strength appeared almost equal. The fight did not end easily.

The Friendship of Gilgamesh and Enkidu

Yet the fight ended in an unexpected way. The two men came to recognize each other’s strength. Their rivalry and conflict soon turned into respect. In that moment a new bond began between them.

Gilgamesh and Enkidu became friends. The two of them began new adventures together. Their friendship became the center of the story of Gilgamesh. From that moment the story of the two heroes began to open toward a larger world.

This meeting became the event that changed the direction of the entire story of Gilgamesh.

길가메시 2화 – 길가메시와 엔키두의 만남

길가메시와 엔키두는 만나 싸운 뒤 친구가 되며 이야기의 흐름이 바뀌게 됩니다.

우루크의 왕 길가메시는 강한 힘을 가진 왕으로 알려져 있었습니다. 그러나 그의 힘은 사람들에게 두려움이 되기도 했습니다. 사람들은 결국 신들에게 도움을 요청했습니다. 신들은 길가메시와 맞설 존재를 만들기로 결정합니다.

길가메시와 엔키두의 만남

신들이 만든 존재의 이름은 엔키두였습니다. 그는 도시가 아니라 자연 속에서 태어난 존재였습니다. 들판과 숲에서 그는 짐승들과 함께 살아갑니다. 인간 사회의 규칙을 알지 못한 채 자유롭게 살아갑니다.

그러나 그의 존재는 곧 인간 세계와 연결되기 시작합니다. 어느 날 한 사냥꾼이 들판에서 엔키두를 발견합니다. 사냥꾼은 그 이야기를 우루크로 가져갑니다. 그렇게 길가메시와 엔키두의 만남이 서서히 가까워집니다.

길가메시와 엔키두의 대결

마침내 엔키두는 우루크로 오게 됩니다. 도시의 중심에서 그는 길가메시와 마주하게 됩니다. 두 존재는 서로의 힘을 시험하려는 듯 맞서게 됩니다. 그 만남은 곧 격렬한 싸움으로 이어집니다.

두 영웅은 도시의 거리에서 힘을 겨루며 싸웁니다. 사람들은 그 장면을 지켜보며 놀라움을 느낍니다. 두 사람의 힘은 거의 대등하게 보입니다. 그 싸움은 쉽게 끝나지 않습니다.

길가메시와 엔키두의 우정

그러나 싸움은 예상하지 못한 방향으로 끝나게 됩니다. 두 사람은 서로의 힘을 인정하게 됩니다. 경쟁과 대결은 곧 존중으로 바뀝니다. 그 순간 두 사람 사이에는 새로운 관계가 시작됩니다.

길가메시와 엔키두는 친구가 됩니다. 두 사람은 함께 새로운 모험을 시작합니다. 그들의 우정은 길가메시 이야기의 중심이 됩니다. 이제 두 영웅의 이야기는 더 큰 세계로 나아가기 시작합니다.

이 만남은 길가메시 이야기 전체의 방향을 바꾸는 사건이 됩니다.
