After Enkidu’s death, Gilgamesh begins a journey to find immortality and escape death.

After the death of Enkidu, the life of Gilgamesh changes profoundly. He witnesses the death of his friend and begins to reflect deeply on the fate of human beings. Until then he had lived as a king whose life had been filled with battles and glory. Now one question begins to dominate his thoughts.

Gilgamesh, Who Begins to Fear Death after the Death of His Friend

The death of Enkidu shocks Gilgamesh deeply. He watches the body of his friend slowly growing cold. In that moment he realizes that human beings cannot escape death. This realization leaves a deep fear in him.

He begins to realize that he too will one day face the same fate. Even the strongest king cannot avoid death. For this reason Gilgamesh makes a decision. He begins to search for a path beyond death.

Gilgamesh Sets Out to Find Utnapishtim and the Secret of Immortality

Gilgamesh hears a story about a man. His name is Utnapishtim. He is known as the only human who received a life without death. It is said that the gods granted him a special existence.

Gilgamesh decides to find him. He wishes to know whether there is a way for humans to overcome death. For this reason he sets out on a long journey. The road leads to distant places that few humans can reach.

The Long Journey of Gilgamesh in Search of the Answer to Immortality

Gilgamesh leaves the throne of his kingdom and begins his journey. His path continues across mountains and deserts. He moves toward places beyond the boundaries of the human world. The journey is not simply a journey but a search for the meaning of human fate.

This journey becomes a new beginning in the story of Gilgamesh. He is no longer only a hero of battles but a human being who carries a question.
